The Blondes out on the town

Last evening (Friday night) the Blondes went out dancing. There was of course me, Dancing Blonde, Bathroom Blogging Blonde and another woman who we will call Really Tall Blonde.

Off we went to La Canita expecting a good evening. I will back up just a bit. Thursday for most and Friday for some, was payday here. This means, of course, people have money. The culture of this country is such that people pretty much live for today and possibly tomorrow but next week is a long way off. SO, on a pay weekend, usually the clubs are hopping.

There was also a live band at the club which will generally attract a bigger crowd. Not so last night. We arrived to find that women had a free entry but the men had to pay 100 pesos, or about $3 US. That is a lot of money especially for a band that was Merengue Tipico. This music is very fast and very loud and is probably the favourite of many locals. For me, it is my least favourite. And it was LOUD......... And I mean LOUD.

There was an overabundance of women and very few men. Not our idea of a good time particularly if you want to dance. I did get a few in but not enough.

After an hour we went off to Terraza Caribe. This is another favourite. It is owned by 2 foreigners, both really nice guys. I really liked it there until about 2 months ago when they changed their DJ and got one I dislike. He had no idea how to blend from one song to the next, played really crappy music and had an annoying habit of playing the same song twice in a row. In some cases they were bad enough the first time let alone the second. This is not an unusual occurance here. A really really popular song will get played twice in a row occasionally. This guy would do it 6, 7, 8 times a night. Puuuuulease. I actually went to talk to him one night: The conversation went something like this:

Me: See the dancefloor?
Him: Yeah
Me: See any people on the dancefloor?
Him: NO
Me: That tell you anything?
Him: NO
Me : Change the music!!!!!!!!

Seriously that is how it went. Rule of thumb in this country: if no one is dancing they hate the music. DOminicans LOVE to dance.

We had a good time at Terraza Caribe, there were people to dance with, talk with and have a good time with. We saw a few people we hadn't seen in a long time too. I am told byt he owner they will make a change in the DJ this week. Yeah..............

High drama while we were there! A woman got bent out of shape because her man was watching another woman dance! Oh heavens........ There was some discussions going on over that one. I guess she is jealous - celoso in spanish....LOL

Tonight we are going to the Malecon. This is the main street on the harbour. There is a free concert for everyone featuring 5 local bands. I LOVE live music. Off we go about 7:30 as the concert starts at 7!!! No we will not be late - NOTHING starts here on time. It will start on Dominican Time....LOL You get used to that after awhile.

Tomorrow I will tell you all about it. Meanwhile we will get a report from Bathroom blonde who has things to share...............LOL

Stay well.

Comments:
Power to the blondes!

A. Brunette
